XJR Servicing 2000 Models onwards

600 miles (1,000km) Performed by Yamaha Dealer

Every 600 miles (1000km) Check, adjust, clean and lubricate the Drive Chain.

Every 6,000 miles (10,000km) 6 months, whichever comes sooner.

Check and adjust Spark Plug Gaps.

Check and adjust Idle speed.

Check and adjust Carburettor synchronization.

Clean and Check Air filter element.

Check Fuel System.

Renew Engine/Transmission Oil.

Check Brake pads.

Check Brake system and Brake light switch operation.

Check the Clutch.

Check the Battery.

Check condition of Wheels and Tyres.

Check Wheel bearings.

Check Side stand and Main stand.

Check tightness of all Nuts, Bolts and other fasteners.

Check Throttle and Choke action and adjust cables.

Lubricate the Clutch/Gear change/Brake lever/Brake pedal/Stand pivots as well as the Throttle/Choke cables.

Check the suspension.

Every 12,000 miles (20,000 km) 12 months, whichever comes sooner.

This service is the same as the 6000 mile, with the addition of the following.

Renew Spark Plugs.

Renew Air Filter Element

Check - Re-grease and Adjust the Steering Head Bearings.

Renew Engine Oil and Oil filter.

Check and adjust Valve clearances.

Every 30,000 miles (50,000km) 2 years, whichever comes sooner.

This is the same as the 8,000 mile service with the addition of the following.

Re-grease Swingarm bearings

Re-grease Steering head bearings.

Check and adjust Valve clearances.

Every 62,000 miles (100,00km) 2 years, whichever comes sooner.

Renew alternator brushes.

Every 2 years

Renew the brake and clutch master cylinder and caliper/release cylinder seals.

Renew Brake and Clutch Fluid.

Every 4 years

Renew the Brake and Clutch hoses.
