Dismantle the key fob, and then examine the battery for the number on it.

Places to try then if you want to go round the high street include jewellers, Currys, Dixons etc., and Timpsons (the shoe repairers / key cutters).

Oh and of course motorcycle dealers and indeed car dealers (many car fobs take small batteries too).

Alternatively this cleverly named internet company http://www.smallbattery.company.org.uk/ have never let me down. You'll need that number though.

Best of luck

Greg

I got my last replacement from a local car dealer , it was half the price the bike shop was charging.

You're so right. I had a Datatool on my Bandit and it drove me wild. There's a Meta on the XJR which is better but I look enviously at my friends who just have a key, no damned silly fob and fiddling about.

All the best mate

On the point of alarms my old 03 XJR was stranded when the imobiliser went a little bit nuts , Luckily he had just got back from a rally so the bike was at

home. The outcome was to take the alarm of the bike and this still cost him £100 in labour , I know Ian had a bit of a problem with his when it got a

little bit on the damp side on a tour of Scotland but that one sorted itself out. Both these alarms were fitted at a very good local Yamaha shop and was

nothing to do with them , I know that all new Yamaha's come with the YISS system fitted as standard and for the £5 you save on the insurance I won't

bothering getting anything else fitted .

yeah and if your bike does get nicked, woe betide you if the insurance find out the alarm was not switched on/disconnected/not fitted at all etc etc as they look for ANY excuse not to pay!
