Hi all

Just thought i would post a few pics of my first trip out of the UK  action-smiley-083 only a short hop across to Normandy but what a difference, the roads are near perfect and the traffic well there isnt any. Sailed from Portsmouth to Cherbourgh but returned on the Cherbourgh to Poole ferry (Much better) Covered nearly 900 miles not that many i know for 6 days but we were visiting the D Day beaches etc so it was a lot of start stopping. On that note if anyone is interested in doing the D Day beaches we found a guy (Biker) who does guided D Day tours on the bike, hes ex Army and full of knowledge about the invasion and i highly recommend him.

As for the XJR she preformed great although when leaving Juno beach i didnt think she was going to start  Huh she eventualy did and it never happened again, not sure what happened there? Shes on 2300 miles now so not bad for 6 months old  action-smiley-083 still makes me smile like a demented idiot  Grin

Thats me on the left  Grin

Nice pics Ian

Looks like you had a good time. I went to Normandy back in March (but in the car) and thoroughly enjoyed it, stopped in a little village called Crepon between Arromanches and Bayeux.

Lovely area, I'd go back again, on either number of wheels!!

All the best

I would do it again tomorrow there is so much to see and do. What really made it for us that we were there just before the 65th anniversery, its wasnt planned it was just a suitable date for the 5 of us to go on the 1st to 5th June and the anniversery was on the 6th. The ferry going over was probably 50% full of WW2 vehicles, it was like D Day all over again only without the bullets lol

Lisa and I did Nornmandy three years ago, it was ace.  There is a biker friendly B&B in Arrowmanche that we stayed at, can't remember the name sadly.  I'll look through old emails and try and find it.

It would be a good tour to go on, I now quite a bit about the D-day landings and could act as a guide incase the guy Ian met is unavailable.  They still have the parachute at St. Mere Eglise I see.  Great museum there.  Pegasus bridge is spot on too, went there as a kid before they replaced the bridge.

Nice pics by the way.  grinning-smiley-002
